Classes for prep-Grade 1 Students

Prep- Grade 1 Contemporary Dance

Prep- Grade 2 Contemporary Dance students learn the foundations of Contemporary Dance technique including an introduction to floor-work, finding freedom and release through movement, travelling steps and partner work.

In every Contemporary class, we include a creative element which could be improvisation (creating movement spontaneously, guided by a theme or set of guidelines) or Choreography (Creating their own dance ‘phrase’ by themselves or in a group, guided by a theme or set of guidelines).

Prep-Grade 1 Contemporary students are invited to perform in the Nook Dance Centre, Primary School, End-of-year Performance (Date TBC).

What to wear

Students should wear comfortable clothing that they can easily move in e.g tracksuit pants/leggings/bike shorts and a T-shirt or singlet. If choosing to wear a dress or skirt, we suggest students wear leggings or bike shorts underneath.

No shoes required.

Kinderballet ‘Next Steps’ (Ballet for Preps-Grade 1)

Take Your Next Steps with Kinderballet™

Following on from the preschool Kinderballet™ programs, Next Steps is developed to be an inspiring, challenging and fun approach to learning classical ballet.

Next Steps students will learn two traditional ballets across the year. In 2022 these will be Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker! Students become immersed in the storyline and within this context they learn classical ballet technique and develop self-expression through dance.

What to wear

Students should wear comfortable clothing that they can easily move in e.g leggings/bike shorts and a T-shirt, singlet or leotard. If choosing to wear a dress or skirt, we suggest students wear leggings or bike shorts underneath.

Ballet shoes are required for this class (not required for your trial). These can be purchased from the Kinderballet online store or any dance wear retailer (Energetiks Ivanhoe and Le Pointe Dance Shop are our nearest dance wear shops)
