I’ve booked a trial class, what happens after the trial?
We will follow up with you by email to see if your child would like to continue for the rest of the term. You will then complete the enrolment form and pay for the classes remaining in the term. If we don’t hear from you after a week post-trial, will assume you do not want to continue and we may offer your child's place to someone else so please get back to us quickly to secure your place in the class (if you want to continue).
What should my child wear to their class?
Preschoolers can wear whatever they are comfortable in. Most children wear their regular day-to-day clothing. Some wear dress ups - Emma Wiggle costumes are still on trend it seems! All that matters is that they can move easily. Bare feet are suitable for all Preschool classes. If your child wants to wear Ballet shoes they can, however these must be purpose-made leather or canvas ballet shoes not toy Ballet shoes or street shoes with a hard sole as these are not safe to dance in.
Please let us know if you would like recommendations of where to purchase Ballet shoes.
What should my child bring to their class?
Just themselves! For Preschool classes, we actually prefer for water bottles to stay with parents/guardians rather than bringing them into the dance room unless it’s a particularly warm day. We encourage the children to have a big drink of water before and after their dance class instead.
We prefer for toys to stay with parents/guardians for the duration of the class (or left at home). If a child carries a toy with them for comfort while they are settling into our classes we are understanding and supportive of this. We will encourage children with toys to place the toys on the side of the room to watch if possible so that they can fully participate in the class.
Can I stay in the dance room with my child?
For trial classes, we will invite one parent/guardian to stay in the dance room for the duration of the class to help with settling in. If your child chooses to continue after the trial, we will encourage parents/guardians to wait in the allocated waiting areas at the venue for the duration of the class. The dance room will always be visible from the waiting area at all our venues, so you will always be able to see your child in their class.
Some children still need their parent/guardian to stay in the room with them for a few weeks after the trial class and this is ok. When your child is starting to feeling comfortable participating independently we will encourage you to make your way to the waiting area.
Is there an opportunity to watch my child during the year?
We have a Watching Day on the last class of every term. On Watching Day, we put out some chairs for family and friends to come in and see what the dancers have been learning throughout the term! On the last class of the year, we have Presentation Day which is a low-key, age-appropriate version of a dance concert for Preschoolers. More information about Presentation Day to come!
If you have family visiting from out of town and they won’t be around for Watching Day, it is ok for them to come in and watch as a one-off. Please let us know in advance by email so that we know to expect visitors that day.
Can I drop my child off and come back at pick-up time?
No, unfortunately we can’t allow this for preschoolers. As per our Waiting Room Policy, we require one parent/guardian for each child to remain at the venue for the entire class. The main reason for this is that your child may need the toilet during their class and we can't take them to the toilet, nor can we allow them to go on their own (for child safety reasons).
If you need to leave the venue during your child's class, you must arrange for a different parent/guardian to be responsible for taking your child to the toilet if needed. Thank you for your understanding.
What do I do if we can’t make it to a class?
If you can’t make it to your trial class, please email us and we will move the trial class to another date.
If your child is enrolled and they need to miss a class for any reason, you can book them in for a make-up class on a different day. We run ’Tots’ and ‘Jumping Jacks’ classes multiple times during the week including Saturdays so you will just need to email us to let us know which class and which date you would like to attend for the make-up class. You can book a make-up class at anytime within the term that the absence occurred. We can’t carry make-up classes across to the next term.
Are there classes during the school holidays/on public holidays?
We run our classes very similarly to government school terms. We don’t run classes during the school holidays and we don’t run classes on public holidays. If your child’s class falls on a public holiday, the class won’t run that day and you won’t be charged for that class on your invoice.
Typically, we still run Saturday classes on long weekends. We will let you know in advance if a class won’t be running due to public holidays.
